Vintage Patek Philippe 18K Rose Gold Custom Case by Gene Clark

This magnificent watch is an 18K Rose Gold, custom cushion shape made by Gene Clark of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Gene Clark was a well known tourbillon maker who is considered to be one of the most capable watchmakers ever to live and work in the United States.
This extremely well fitted watch case was produced in its rough form by Rolland Fischer. The case was finalized and beautifully finished by Gene Clark. Adorning this case are fancy, ornamentally turned, hinged lugs for receiving a leather strap. Case measurements are 33.6 mm in width and 55 mm in overall length, including the lugs. This is quite a heavy 18K case. Meticulously fitted by Gene Clark into the 12 o’clock end of the case is a spectacular 18K Rose Gold custom crown for winding and setting the watch.

The cushion case houses a 13.5 ligne Patek Philippe manual wind movement. Gene Clark completed a total rework of this early 1900s movement. It has received special fitting, polishing, and a 24K Gold matte finish to its entirety. This is an extremely high grade movement which is signed “Special”, so as to note its extra factory attention. The movement is also signed “PATEK PHILIPPE & Co GENEVA” and “No. 85164”. Movement serial number dates to around 1910. The movement displays extremely time intensive and very high quality restoration work by Gene Clark. Highly polished and grained steel components are accompanied by brilliantly polished and heat blued screw heads.

The dial fitted to this watch is its original, white porcelain dial which bears the signature “PATEK PHILIPPE & Co GENEVE”.  It is in immaculate condition and is covered by a custom mineral glass crystal, also crafted by Gene Clark. The beautiful blued steel hands were also hand made by Gene Clark. A genuine Patek Philippe strap is attached to the ornate lugs, and the strap is fitted with a stunning 18K Rose Gold, hand made buckle which Gene Clark made from the same gold stock as was used for the case.

This is a very special watch made by Mr. Clark. It evidences some of his finest workmanship.
